Who we are

Legal LinkedInfluencers is researched and published by TBD Marketing, who are a data controller and registered with the Information Commission under reference ZB202255. If you have a question about your data, want to make a complaint, or want us to change or delete it, contact us.

The research

We rank lawyers and law firms using LinkedIn activity that is publicly visible: public posts and the reactions and comments on them, and the name, firm and job title people show on their public profile. We use it because we have a legitimate interest in researching and publishing how the legal profession uses LinkedIn. We may utilise the research for TBD Marketing's own business activities to include sale of the data. This activity does not amount to automated profiling.

What you give us

When you use a form on this site we collect what you type in: for example your name, email, firm, job title and message, a photo you upload, or screenshots of your LinkedIn analytics. We do not collect sensitive data from you. We use it only for the purpose of that form: to answer your message, manage your place at an event, include you in the rankings, publish your profile if you choose to, or send you the report you asked for.

We only email you news and reports if you have ticked the box to say yes, and every email lets you unsubscribe.

Your Year on LinkedIn

If you upload your LinkedIn analytics export, we collect what is in it: your impressions, engagements, members reached and new followers, day by day for the year; your top posts and their figures; your follower count; and LinkedIn's summary of who follows you and who sees your posts (industry, job title, seniority, location, company and company size, as percentages). We also keep your name, email, LinkedIn address and practice area, and the file itself.

We use it to build your private Year on LinkedIn page, which only you (with your email address) and our team can open, and to send you your January report on how you compare. Nothing about you is made public unless you choose to publish your own cards.

If you tick the research box, we also include your figures in the Legal LinkedInfluencers year-end research. We only report it anonymised and combined with others, in groups of 5 or more, so no one can be picked out. If you don't tick it, you still get your year, and your figures stay out of the research.

We keep your page and file until 31 December 2027, then delete them. You can ask us to delete them, or take your figures out of the research, at any time.

Who helps us

We use a small number of service providers to run the site and handle your data on our behalf: website hosting, our database, email delivery, our customer relationship system (HubSpot), and Cloudflare's security check on our forms. Wherever possible we require third parties to maintain appropriate security to protect the information from unauthorised access or processing.

How long we keep it

We keep research data and rankings for as long as we publish the rankings and their archive. This data is an aggregated form of publicly available data on the internet. We keep form entries for as long as we need them for the purpose you gave them, and then delete them. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you and in certain circumstances correct it, delete it, make a complaint or object to us using it. Contact us and we will respond within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commission should you remain dissatisfied (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't track you across other sites.

Visitor statistics: we count visits to our public pages with Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores no personal data. It records which page was viewed, the website you came from, and your country and device type, and it only ever reports totals. We don't send it the codes or details in web addresses, and private pages and the admin area aren't counted.

Strictly necessary: our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to stop spam and bots. It is a security measure and does not need your consent.

Content from other sites: the LinkedIn posts on our home page only load when you click to show them. At that point LinkedIn may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy. Our videos are hosted on this site and set no cookies.

Private pages and the admin area remember small things in your own browser (such as a password you entered) so you don't have to type them again. This stays on your device.
